Frequently asked questions that we receive:
How much do they cost? This is entirely dependent upon the quality of the cat. Call Terri to ask her about a particular cat/kitten you are interested in.
Are they part Bobcat? The Pixie Bob is a domestic breed that is bred to resemble the Bobcat.
Is there a difference between males and females personality? It has been my experience over the years that overall there is no special difference in the personality of altered cats. Each has it’s own unique personality just like we do.
How big do they get? Our Pixie Bobs range in weight from 8-12 pounds on average for females and 10-18 pounds on average for males. Most of my girls weigh around 10-14 pounds and my boys average around 12-18 pounds at maturity.
Do you ship and is it safe? Yes we do and yes it is. I do not ship my kittens until at least 12 weeks of age.
What do you feed your cats? We feed a top quality dry feed and some fresh human grade meat as a snack. IMO, it’s important to remember that cats are carnivores unlike dogs, which are omnivores.
Do you guarantee the health of your cats? Yes, we do! You can expect to receive a guarantee from us in writing and it will also spell out the other responsibilities of both parties. So there are no guessing games.
What does “straight foot “ mean? This means the cat is non-polydactyl.
Will the kitten have blue eyes? No, all kittens are born with blue eyes and they will turn either gold or green as they get older.
Are you a registered cattery? Yes, we are members of the association called TICA and remain in good standing. We subscribe to the TICA "Standard of Ethics" too. The name “Legendkatz” And "Shadowbrook" is our TICA registered name and automatically shows up on registration applications sent from the association.
What colors do they come in? The only acceptable colors for the purpose of showing with TICA are the brown/black/tan tabby. This is because only these colors/pattern resemble the bobcat. However, due to genetics of our breed by virtue of its very background and the foundation stock used from the “beginning” of the breed, as we now know it, we see a variety in both pattern and colors.
